The Mongolian Affairs Department job function

I. Official function
(1) regarding promotion of interchanges with the Mongolian populated areas
(2) regarding providing guidance to the World Mongolian Association to promote the works of contact and unity among worldwide Mongolians
(3) regarding providing guidance to the Mongolian Youth to Taiwan to study and research into Chinese culture and language
(4) regarding the management of Mongolian youth professional talent training and advanced training program
(5) regarding the management of Mongolian Traditional celebrations and art and culture activities
(6) regarding contact service and aids provided to the Mongolians based in Taiwan
(7) regarding guidance provided to the Mongolian youths for further studies, employment and extra-curricular activities
(8) regarding the promotion of Mongolian and Tibetan academic cultural research, lecture and exchanges between Taiwan and Mongolia and Mainland areas.


II. Important jobs
1. Exchanges conducted with Mongolian populated areas
1). In order to promote substantial relation with Mongolia and enhance various exchanges between Taiwan and Mongolia, arrange visits and research by important personalities of various fields on both sides and organize concerned exchanges activities.
2). Dispatch staff members to Mongolia to contact and collect current situation data.
3). Assist in protection of visiting Taiwanese businessmen, people's rights, and enhance exchanges of investment, the economy and trade with Mongolia.

2.  Organize Mongolian Academic Conferences
Subsidize or commission civilian agencies in Taiwan to conduct Mongolian academic conferences which promote enhanced academic research standards in Taiwan.
3.  Encourage Mongolian youths to come to Taiwan to study Chinese culture and language.

 In order to nurture and educate excellent youths of overseas and Mongolian areas, the Commission encourages Mongolian youths to come to Taiwan to study Chinese language and culture, and after returning to their overseas resident areas to be able to assist in promoting the Commission's works of overseas Mongolian affairs.
4.  Conducting Mongolian professional personnel training and advanced training. Received high and mid level Mongolian government to come to Taiwan to receive administrative management, judiciary, medical and various other professional trainings and further trainings to enhance mutual substantial exchanges in order to build a basis for friendship.
5.  Selection of Mongolian and Tibetan Professionals to conduct research and lecture exchanges.
1). Select academic Mongolian and Tibetan research scholars from Mongolia, Mainland areas and overseas to come to Taiwan for lecture or research.
2). Subsidize Taiwan Scholars to come to Mongolian areas to conduct short term lectures or research.
6.  Contact and service of Mongolians in Taiwan
1). To take care of Mongolians in Taiwan is one of the Commission's policy items, and to provide special aid to the Mongolians in Taiwan who are elderly, destitute or powerless due to unforeseen circumstances.
2). In order to establish clear regulations of the application for the Mongolian and Tibetan identification certificate, conforming to the Constitution's spirit of protection of Mongolian and Tibetan status, implementing the aims of caring for the Mongolians and Tibetans in Taiwan and insuring the people's exercise of right and duty, the Commission has especially established the "Rules and Regulations of the Mongolian and Tibetan Identification Certificate", which has been passed in the Legislative Yuan and announced its implementation by the President on December 18, 2002.
3). Provide guidance to the Taipei City Mongolian Association and Mongolian Cultural Association to promote to works of contact service of the Mongolians in Taiwan to enhance unity among the Mongolians and propagation of Mongolian culture.
4). Provide guidance to establish the World Mongolian Association, integrating overseas Mongolian support.  The Headquarter is established in New Jersey, USA.
7.  Organize the Official Genghis Khan Memorial Ceremony

On the 21st day of the third month of Chinese Lunar Calendar, on which occasion the President sends the Chairman of the Commission there to represent him to lead the memorial ceremony, and other Yuans and various other government agencies send representatives to attend the grand ceremony.
8. Invite Mongolian arts performing groups to tour in Taiwan,

Besides expressing the beauty of the Mongolian performing arts, introduce traditional Mongolian culture to the people of Taiwan to enhance national harmony.
9. Provide guidance to Mongolian youths for further studies, employment and extra-curricular activities
1). Providing guidance for the further studies and employment to Mongolian youths in Taiwan is a continued long-term task of the Commission, in order to encourage Mongolian students to study diligently, the Commission provides aid each semester; and scholarships to the students obtaining excellent results; at the same time the Commission also provides a prize to the outstanding Mongolian student.
2). In order to encourage excellent Mongolian and Tibetan students to diligently study and make progress, the Commission provides a scholarship to one student of Mongolian and Tibetan origin to study abroad.
3). Conduct "Mongolian and Tibetan students examination of Mongolian and Tibetan languages" in order to provide guidance and assistance to the Mongolian and Tibetan students, not only  to smooth the transition into higher schools, but also to nurture ethnic language.
10. Nurturing Mongolian and Tibetan research Professionals in Taiwan
1). According to the "implementation key points of providing Mongolian and Tibetan language scholarships", to grant a scholarship to the students obtaining excellent results in Mongolian and Tibetan language as an elective course in university/college.
2). Subsidize scholars, University teachers and research students to go abroad and Mongolian areas to collect research data and to conduct field trip investigations to enhance academic research conditions.
